What is Chrome OS? Google Chrome OS is a safe and secure operating system that is used in laptops and desktop computers. After a slow start since its original release in 2011, Chrome OS became the second most popular desktop operating system in 2020, surpassing Apple's macOS in worldwide sales. This is our Chrome OS download page.

Key Features

  • Simplicity: As usual, Google likes to keep things simple. The Chrome OS Chromebook operating system includes a so-called Everything Button. It is a button that helps you find what you are looking for. Get a file, open an app, find answers online, and much more - all from one place.
  • Speed: Chrome OS is ready when you are. Chromebooks and Chromeboxes boot up in seconds. Thanks to automatic updates you get the latest software without being interrupted during your activities.
  • Security: With features such as secure support for multiple users and built-in virus protection, Chrome OS keeps you and your personal data protected.

Where to Download Chrome OS?

It is important to bear in mind that Chrome OS is not a conventional operating system that you can download or purchase on a physical disc. The only way to get the operating system is by buying yourself a device that has Chrome OS factory installed. In other words, Chrome OS is hardware-tied. There are different manufacturers that sell Chromebook laptops, including Asus, Lenovo, Acer, and HP. Recently, most of these brands have also started making Chromebook desktop machines, which are typically referred to as Chromeboxes.

Is Chrome OS Free?

As previously mentioned, you will have to buy a Chromebook or Chromebox device in order to get Chrome OS. Once you have a laptop or a computer that runs Chrome OS, you will get up to eight years of Chrome OS software updates completely free of charge.
