My family and I are leaving for Ireland on Friday. I will have access to a mobile phone, which is set up to work there. My question: how do I call my US mobile phone (being carried in Ireland) from within Ireland? Do I need to use the international direct dialing code and the US country code? I'm asking so my family members know what to do if we get separated.

You must still call the country code (US, and the whole number). Do not worry about where the phone is located, worry about where the phone originated!
