Firefox Quantum Really faster than the Chrome?

Is Firefox Quantum really decrease ram usage and runs faster than the Google Chrome? Or these are just rumors?

I have just installed the most recent version of Firefox, (not Quantum) and it's really faster than the previous version. Mind you, my internet connection is 300mbps on download and faster on upload.
