I'm fairly confident I know the reason why, but I have no clue how to go about fixing the issue. I saw a similar thread that made mention of my problem. https://ccm.net/forum/affich-7925-cd-rom-dvd-drive-won-t-work , someone mentioned that if you have Daemon Tools installed (which I do), then you need to turn off emulation (I don't know how to do that).

I installed Daemon Tools to try to run some game emulations, but I'm far from an expert in this area, so I realized I likely screwed something up.

When I insert a DVD into the drive and close it, then click on the drive in My Computer, this pops up https://gyazo.com/9e818c2b318e8f647a7f78a5b5c995ee instead of it running the DVD, I see this.

What is your operating system?

Why would you need a daemon tool?

What type of disks are you trying to use?

What's on those disks.

Do you wish to emulate something?

The message you get comes from either the disks or the daemon tool.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Windows 8.1

I thought I needed daemon tools to mount a virtual drive to run game ISO's on.

DVD discs

The disc I'm using is just a movie DVD disc, but I get the same results with any DVD I put in.

I used to want to emulate games just for fun, but I'd rather have a functioning DVD player on my computer, so I'm not so concerned with emulating games anymore.

Please remove the daemon tool, it's the one creating the problem.

I've tried uninstalling it, it doesn't fix the problem.

Good,

Now download and install CCleaner:

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4555-ccleaner/

Launch CCleaner, clean on tools and clean your registry.

2, Reinstall your DVD/CD player driver
