I have a Gmail account for which Google cannot verify that I am the owner of. I also have 10 backup codes useable for account access when problems occur, but I find nowhere in the account recovery process where I can enter one of those codes. The normal recovery process is providing a phone number whose last two digits are unknown to me and some of its questions are unrecognizable, such as "Name of your wife?" . I have never been married and so have no wife. Most puzzling. Hopefully, there may be some help from the CCM community. I certainly hope so...

When you created the account, did you register alternate recovery email address or phone number to which you have access to receive a reset code?

Never mind your 10 backup codes, you need a new one.

When is the last time you successfully accessed your account?

I most probably did, but did not keep a record of it. The same is true for my phone number which is the only one I have. Its last 2 digits are 64 and not 12 as shown in the recovery process. Last use of the account must be well over a year or even more....

Since you have not accessed your account for a period of nine months, Gmail has deleted your account from the server. It cannot be recovered, that why you are getting all of those weird questions.

Sorry

Thanks for your reply. I recall reading somewhere that Google does NOT delete acconts for reason of inactivity. How can their action be verified?

Nowadays you cannot believe everything you read, especially on internet.

Send an email to the address your are trying to recover, see what happens.
