Format my vista with xp

Hello,
I have a Lenovo Y-series Laptop with vista homebasic..
and i am a student of computer science as you know graphics not work on vista so please tell me solution so that i can program graphics ..
otherwise i am not able to format vista with xp so tell me how can i setup xp in place of vista..

Hye there,

If you want to install xp on the laptop you will need the xp installation cd!

Go to the bios settings and change the sata mode to IDE before installation!
