Help with old computer

Hello,
I am trying to fix an old computer. it's a seven years old sony desktop. I used the recovery disk but after the recovery computer hangs on the stage says "please wait..." on the windows xp logo screen. I waited more than 24 hrs but nothing happened. Don't have money to get a new one so PLEASE HELP.

or

try making a new fresh windows installation
