wd passport Closed

Question

hey guys. my wd passport isnt wanting to read due to malfunction. what originally happened was i was stupid, and i didnt even think about safely ejecting it from my pc, and now it dont work. it lights up for sure, but it would pop up on my pc, and then disconnect and shows a notification saying "windows has been unable to read it/it malfunctioned. if anyone can help i would gladly appreciate it. thanks

Hi,

The hard drive may have been corrupted when you disconnected it without safely ejecting it. Try running the check disk utility.

First of all, open Command Prompt with administrator rights. Next, type chkdsk d: /f and press Enter. Note: replace d: by the letter of your hard drive.

The check disk utility will scan the hard drive for errors and try to fix it.
