Hello,
I changed the RAM on my Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop from 128 MB to 512 MB RAM, PC2700. Only DIMM A is working, DIMM B does not function well. So I put 512 MB in DIMM A leaving DIMM B blank. The laptop works fine once started with good speed. But every time I start laptop the CAP & Shift lights go on, The fan starts the power light comes on, but the computer fails to start and the power light goes off. I have to remove and insert the memory every time I start my laptop. Sometimes do this exercise twice.
The RAM is Infeneon 512MB DDR SO DIMM PC2700, Also tried with MT RAM PC2700.
Originally the Laptop had MT Brand, PC2100, 128MB DDR.
I have tried leaving the 128 RAM in DIMM B and 512 RAM in DIMM A, The laptop first started but eventually afer 5 minutes screen shows there has been a hardware problem, run checkdsk f/.
I have upgraded the BIOS too.
HELP!
Thanks
Kim.

hi there,

as you mentioned the laptop from origin

used pc2100 and you upgraded it from 128mb to 512mb

thats great but you didnt use the same frequency as it used at beginning

this issue can be solved only by using the default frequency

that is the pc 2100

Thanks
