Help my sims 2 pc game wont work

Hello,
i got sims 2 pc game the other day and i tryed it in my computer it installed but then sad it couldnt find birectx9.0 sound card/directx 9.0 version i dont know what theres are do you have to buy something for the computer or download it can anyone help as my little sister realy wants to play the game so if anyone could help i would be greatful

Hello,

This means you will have to install Direct X on your computer, you will have to download the latest version for windows XP and install it
