Absolute reference from another sheet is not workingClosed

Question

I have my First Sheet as an Index sheet with titles of topics and another neath each title i have my latest update which is pulled from another sheet

='Sheet 03'!$B$3 ......For the Title

='Sheet 03'!$B$4......For the update

Every time the I have a new update i am inserting a new row and write the new update

What is happening that in my First Sheet  the update is changing to B5 although i have the $

Can some one suggest a solution? Thanks guys.

Hi Charles,

Change your formula:

='Sheet 03'!$B$3

into:

=INDEX(Sheet 03!B:B,3)
