Hello,
My Gateway Notebook M325 (M622-UCX) Crashed. I reinstalled the OS (XP PRO) (SP2)using the restore CD that came with the PC. I went to GATEWAY.COM and downloaded all the drivers for this PC. The sound driver is the only one that will NOT install. It says Failed to install. I downloaded the Sound Driver again and still NOTHING. The speakers worked fine before the software reinstall. Everything else is working fine. Can anyone help me?
Robert.

Dear Sir,

You will have to install the exact driver for your sound device!

Please download the driver here:

Thanks

Hi WEBITO,

I assume that you are referring to the sound driver.

What is the make and model of your sound card ?

Webito,

AC 97 is a Realtek sound card.

I suggest that you go to the Realtek website and download the XP driver for your sound card. You must go to your device manage to find the correct model of the Realtek AC 97 sound card. I assume that you may need this driver: 5.10.0.5360

I also suggest that you upgrade to Windows XP sp3 before doing the next step. It may make a world of difference.

Once downloaded to your desktop, again go to the device manager and delete the sound card. Restart your machine and it will detect the card as new hardware. Click on the driver on the driver to install it.

Good luck.
