System Icon Problems

Hello,
i was wondering if everyone can help me as i am curently using Windows Vista just now and everytime when i open then shut off my laptop some of the system icons on the bottom left are always missing and different each time i log on eg volume, battery and the network bar, sometimes it turns up then it disappears, i try to put it on manually on the propertie part but its unhighlighted and woudn't let me put it on. Can someone plz help me as its very annoying

The same thing keeps happening to me. I found an answer at the site below:

I followed the steps and it worked great, but then it happened again. I tried to follow the steps again and it didn't work the second time. So I don't know if this is the real solution.
