Pc shuts down when vga card inserted

Hello,
i have bought a new grafic card recently, its xfx nvidia geforce 9600gso 768mb,my computer configuration is amd athlon 64 x 2(6000+)3.1 ghz processor,asus m2n68-am motherboard,2 gb of ram and 230 volts psu,my problem is when i insert my new grafic card and start the pc it gets shut down automatically and does no boot to windows,it gets switched off before the windows screen appears,my pc works fine with integrated vga,i also updated my bios but no progress,can anyone help
