PLEASE HELP ME OUT IF POSSIBLE!!

Hello,
I HAVE A Acer Aspire One THAT HAS A BOOT UP PROBLEM. I THINK IT GOT A VIRUS AND THEN WOULDN'T
BOOT UP SAYS MISSING A WINDOWS ROOT/SYSTEM32/HAL.DLL. NEED TO INSTALL A COPY OF THIS FILE. I BOUGHT A BOOTABLE FLASH DRIVE WITH WINDOWS XP OFF EBAY AND THE MAN SAID IT WOULD RE INSTALL AND FIX. IT DIDN'T, DOES ANYONE HAVE A IDEA OF HOW TO FIX. I ALSO BOUGHT A CDRW/DVD COMBO TO TRY AND INSTALL A COPY OF WINDOWS XP PRO I HAVE AND AGAIN DIDN'T FIX. PLEASE HELP ME OUT IF ANYONE CAN.

Dear Sir,

I think there must be a problem with your hard drive,

I will recommend you to replace the existing hard drive and try to install windows and see if it works again

have you run chkdsk /r on the hdd
