Plug and play monitor problem: "No signal&quo

Hello,
Just purchased a monitor for my HP notebook PC. Plugged in the cable and turned monitor on. However, the monitor says, "no signal". The CD with the monitor is of no help. Nothing I seemed to try to get a driver recognized helps. Help please.

Dear Sir,

You will have to set your display settings and activate your monitor!

Right Click on your desktop and select Display properties,

Select your monitor and press OK

Or Just press the keyboard function for external monitor display!

Fn+ F5 key depending on your system

you cant click on desktop when the moniter is in sleep mode

Hello,
every single time I turn it on it says power saving and go to sleep it was just working until I moved it to a different spot in my room everything else is working but the monitor keeps saying power saving mode it won't show my desktop or anything I checked the cords and I'm pretty sure they aren't loose help me please
