Window Movie Maker

Hello,
I am fastly loosing patience with Windows Vista, I have just spent 2 full weeks entering over 3000 pics from a recent trip into Windows movie Maker I even added Music only to find out that I cannot put all of my hard work onto a DVD so we can show our family , I only have Vista home not premium. so my question is do I delete all my work and find another program or is there a way around this. please be aware I am not the computer end all I am just a starter.
