HP DV9000 EXTERNAL MONITOR/WIRELESS CON

Hello,
Please help...my bezel broke around the hinges of my hp dv9000 and I too could not afford to get it fixed. I had a 20inch hp widescreen and decided to remove the laptop screen and hook it to the 20inch, everything was fine until I tried to go on the internet. The wireless switch is blue but the message I get is that there are no wireless networks found check wireless switch. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something, there are 3 wires hanging out of the laptop screen: aux, main, and the web cam connector.
