Browsing - download limit exceeded

Hello,
Will the images present in web page get downloaded when someone visits a web page .... ?
Is it different for different browsers ?
My problem is I have a download limit on my Internet connection, it is getting exceeded every month . I can't understand why is this happening as I just browse through web pages, watch some videos, use yahoo mesenger and google chat. Does any of these will be responsible for my problem ???

I would think that the movies/videos as using up all your download allocation.

while you're playing the videos the data gets uploded into your computer which results in the download of the content.....
