Page numbering

Hello,
I copied a long document from an email and inserted it into a word document. It is numbering the pages correctly.... 1,2,3,4 - but it is showing the page number twice. how can I stop this? It won't let me stop it on the insert menu, and page numbering and it won't let me highlight it and erase it. thank you for any help

does the document that you have already have page numbers on it from the email document?

yes, the email document already had page numbering twice
