Windows vista problem in dell inspiron laptop

Hello,
i bought dell inspiron laptop.It is vista installed in it . But my s/w.s are not compatable with vista.when i try to install XP i'm getting error as hardware not found and by default install option is in disabled mode.Can any one tell the solution to install XP OS in my Dell laptop.(Windows& OS is upgraded in my dell even it is not compatable to most softwares.)

if you continue to use vista you must download compatible versions

of the software you need for vista
