Can't get pics from pc after moving from ipod

Hello, Help,

I've recertly reset my computer and saved photo's to i-pod nano 4th gen . I've now re-syncd my i-pod wanting to move photo's from i-pod to pc i right clicked and moved photo's from i-pod to my pictures saved as i-pod photo cache and another saved as photo database but when i try and open them in windows photo gallery it says file format is not supported and does not have latest updates - even though i have carried all possible updates. . Is there anyway i can get photos back to either i-pod or computer to view or save on disc ?
