NTFS file error on boot

Hello,
When my system boots the auto-checkdisk starts and fails at (2 of 3).

The messages are as follows:

Correcting error in index $0 for file 11778
An unspecified error occurred.

The system hangs up at this point.

My question is:

is this fixable?

Format your hard drive and do a clean install of Windows.
