? hard disc failure

Hello,for a few days whenever I switched on my computer I got an on-screen msg saying "hard drive detects imminent failure". Then I saw a msg that a dischek was needed, I opted for that and noticed that most of the files were coming up as "unreadable". Today all I can get on screen is attribute failed:#05 and nothing is working. Has my hard disc died? Any ideas?
