that sounds an awful lot like my situation except i dont know of any program that could have been running because this seems to be repeatable on my windows xp machine just before startup (safe mode too) completes. I say it sounds similar because some trojan was screwing with my machine when it first crashed. is it just something else causing the stop message or could this in any way be related?
