White Screen Closed

Hello,
I have a nokia 5300. I used to use a 2gb memory card on it. but the phone slowed down considerably. I removed the card, updated the firmware and since then it only accepts a 128mb card. Anything else, i get a white screen and the phone goes off. What could the problem be?
