HP Lap top

Hello,
I have an HP pavilion dv5000, When stared it goes right to the CD drive.
Screen stays black, Key borad does not respond, Cd drive just keeps trying
to read.

The hard drive may be defective or you may have changed the boot order in the BIOS. Try to boot into the BIOS and see if the HD is recognized. This may require replacement of the HD and re-installing Windows.
