Blue screen of death

Hello,

ok i got a good one for you guys.
i'm getting a blue screen of death with a stop message that say unmountable_boot_volume.
stop code 0x000000ed 0x84677610,0xc0000185,0x00000000,0x00000000

i tried booting in safe mode but it doesn't work, i booted from os install cd but after loading files it goes to the windows loading screen and back to the bsod. sometimes it goes to a black screen with just the mouse showing.

it is a vista.

any help? thx

The hard drive is defective or needs to be reformatted.

cool, thats what i was afraid of. but how do i format the hard drive if i cant load windows on it?

You will need another computer to TRY to format it. Most likely the drive is defective and formatting will fail anyway.
