I need to restore files because of pc recover

something happened to my computer and the hp system recovery came up. i lost everything and need it back. im not exactly sure about the directions you said to do in the beginning after i click documents and settings. i went to the user file but it was not empty. also i was not sure about the user name. please can you help me. i dont know what to do.

Some file recovery products are able to recover disk contents even after a reformat and even after a re-install of Windows and after partioning errors.

You really need to minimise what you do on the system in the meantime though. You should download and run such software on a different drive or PC. You may need to connect the original drive as a secondary drive on the different PC. You then run the software from the different drive so that it scan the original drive and can then recover the data.
