If you are connected to a DSL, or Broadband Modem then reset that and be sure your Network adapter is setup for auot IP config then reboot. If you are wired to a router then reset the router/modem, and check the Settings on the computer.
Down on the lower taskbar left click the network Icon
Open Network and Sharing Center
On the left sidebar click Change Adapter Settings
double click Adapter Icon
Properties
then highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCIP/IPv4)
click on properties
then make sure that the circle next to Obtain an IP Address automaticly
I'd assume after reseting your modem and/or router your problem will be resolved. Windows 7 has advanced Network setup and most of it is automated enough to gain a basic Broadband/DSL connection unless there is an IP issue with your IP provider or a settings problem with a router.
