Hello,
Go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=38977&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=385193&os=228&lang=en

Thank you for your link on the LAN-Express 802.11b Wireless LAN Adapter Driver for Windows XP, but my Compaq Presario 2100 laptop doesn't have wireless adapter but a National Semiconductor Fast Ethernet adapter DP83815. After installing Windows 7 RC (released last Tuesday) this did not recognized either the ethernet adapter or the ALi M5451 PCI audio controller. So I have a problem of finding the right drivers for both devices. Any hints?

This concerns the Windows 7 (Win7) audio driver for the Compaq Presario 2100. The general steps likely apply to all 2100's but my particular model is the AMD version.
You can use the audio driver from HP's website as well, although it requires a few additional steps.
Download the audio driver here (at least for the AMD version):
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-10516-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=385190
(1) Extract the files by either running the .exe (which will place the files in C:\program files\SP23455 ) or use a program such as winrar to extract them directly from the .exe. Running the program will not directly install the drivers as the installation program will not find the audio device. Click cancel to close the install program. The driver files will still be located in C:\program files\SP23455
(2) Go to Device Manager and double click the audio device entry which will be under the "Other Devices." Click Update Driver. Select "Browse my computer for driver software." Click on the "browse" and go to C:\program files\SP23455. Click Next. It will now install the driver and your audio should work.
I hope this helps. This method prevents one from having to search and reduces the risks associated with downloading and installing software from unknown sources.

i have tried to search for the model of your laptop but couldnt find it anywhere can you tell me the exact name of the laptop please?
The audio chipset used in many of the Presario 2100 series (AMD machines) is the ALI M5451. You can grab this driver from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/uli-drivers/
Download and install the "Integrated 220" file. Audio works fine under 7.

Instead of looking for a ethernet adapter driver for the Compaq Presario 2100, I looked for a driver for the device, a National Semiconductor Fast PCI Ethernet Adapter, which I had identified first by using a driver-guide scanner on a similar laptop of a friend.
That way I identified a DP83815 ethernet adapter and then I went to the driverguide.com site and downloaded the driver EN-559TXnew.zip, which worked fine and could start to connect to the internet right away.
Same procedure I used to get a driver for the audio device, a ALi M5451 PCI AC-Link controller, and sound got back to the laptop.
Thank you for your help.

I followed your procedure, but I can't find any DP83815 driver for windows 7 in driverguide, nor a EN-559TXnew.zip file anywhere. All drivers support stops to XP.
Could you please post a direct link or something to download it?
I focused on NIC, I didn't even look for ALi M5451. Maybe this research gives the same result.
Thanks.
