Pen-drive problem in linux

My 2bg USB pen-drive is showing 1.9 Gb free space in windows Xp system however when I try to use the USB pen-drive in my Linux system it shows 250Mb used space and 0 free space and does not write anything on the drive giving error message as " not enough space at the destination".
