The smoke probably means the power connector inside the laptop has broken off from the motherboard. This might be fixed by re-soldering the connection. But, it might require a replacement motherboard. The problem is the replacement and labor costs total more than buying a new laptop. Plus the DV6000 series has a large number problems and I would not advise fixing this model. You can probably remove the hard drive, buy a USB adapter and convert it to an external drive and save your data.
