Hp pavilion power issue

Hi

ive got a Hp pavilion dv6000 and when i plug the power lead in the blu light surronding it flashes on for a second then goes off but if you wiggle the power lead it flashes on and off and a little smoke comes from it any ideas whats wrong and where im best starting to fix it .

The smoke probably means the power connector inside the laptop has broken off from the motherboard. This might be fixed by re-soldering the connection. But, it might require a replacement motherboard. The problem is the replacement and labor costs total more than buying a new laptop. Plus the DV6000 series has a large number problems and I would not advise fixing this model. You can probably remove the hard drive, buy a USB adapter and convert it to an external drive and save your data.
