Cant install my D- Link modem/ router driver

Hello,
Every time I insert the D link DSL 524T disc into the computer ( Dell D630) I keep getting a message that my router/ modem isn't powered up or the cable is faulty.... etc. The two little lights where you plug in the RJ45 are lit. One constant the other flashing.
BUT my modem is powered up and the cable works.... 'cos I'm using it right now my another computer..... Whats the problem PLEASE... I thought that maybe the Driver disc is out of date but I cant find the DSL 524T drivers on the net.
My OS is XP Pro SP2 ( 2nd computer)
and the Modem i've been using for the past 4 years on this one TCP/IP mac OSX
