Wanna connect my desktop computer with Laptop

Sir,

I wanna connect my desktop computer with Laptop by using one internet modem which is connected with Laptop for sharing internet. We're connected in LAN.We are using windows XP.Actually I'm not IT guy & have very poor knowledge in IT. So please give me suggestion very simple way so that I can easily understand.
