Audio in and fingerprint problem

Hello,
I am James,i have an hp dv6000,initially it came with window vista and everything was working fine but i later formatted my system because it was affected with virus, from their i removed window vista and installed window xp. After turning my system into window xp my microphone can no longer detect voice input(when somebody speaks i can hear hear very well but when i speak the person can't hear me),and lastly my fingerprint sensor is not working anymore, i don't know if the fingerprint sensor software is still there or not.please help me out.

Double click the sound icon in the left hand corner. When it opens up click options Then properties
Tick the mic volume then advanced and make sure the mic mute isnt ticked...
