Hello,

I have a flash drive in a usb port that I used for system backup. The backup
completed ok but I cannot remove the flash drive.
I had previously formatted the drive to ntfs. I have used the Safely Remove
Hardware procedure and it removes the device from the
My Computer window but I still cannot remove the flash drive.

I have a microsoft inspiron 530 with windows xp sp3.
Any help in resolving this will be appreciated.
Thank you

You mean it's physicaly impossible to remove the drive?

Yes, the drive cannot be pulled out of the usb slot.
The drive has been modified to allow write caching and safe removal.
When writing to the flash drive the program will not allow it to be
removed until the program has completed the recording.
This is where the Safe Removal of Equipment applies. You have to
follow that procedure so the program will unlock the flash drive.
Normally at that point the ddrive should be easily removed. in my
case I can't remove it. I've tried everything that I can think of
but no luck.

Thanks for responding.
