System 32 error, Repair freeze

Hello,

My computer the past week kept freezing up lately, finally last night it decided to give up on itself completely. When I restarted my computer it had said there was a corrupt / missing file System32. I've been looking around online and they have said to throw in your windows cd and repair. Which is what we have been doing but as soon as we select repair the computer freezes up. Not really sure what to do now, a few of my friends say I need a new hard drive and my father couldn't figure it out. Any help would be lovely.
