Hello,

If I open many windows at once, I encounter an error message on a blue screen that says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
If this is the first time you have seen this message, restart your computer. If you encounter this problem again ....................................
...................

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFD9EC8,0x00000001,0x8057DBEB,0x00000000)

The capitalized message is sometimes
BAD_POOL_CALLER
or
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
or
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
and the stop code is also different each time.

Sometimes there is name of .sys files saying:
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntfs.sys
...................................................................................: winnt.sys
etc.

My configuration is windows XP,
RAM->256 MB (DDR266)
page file ->1187 MB
HD ->40 GB
IE 8

I think my problem is due to the low value of RAM. But I need some suggestions before upgrading it.
Thank you very much.

it dosent seems to be an ideal system failure but rather an malware activity
which antivirus have you installed

plz give the details of startup entities by going in to run -> type msconfig -> press enter then goto startup

when there is a pagefile error you will see a warning that says low on virtual memory and never a blue screen

a blue screen is due to hard disk or ram

and reset your BIOS setting to default values

Hello,

Very nice problem you are experiencing, I like it! (not you I am sure)

Please tell me:

1. Have you used Easy CD Creator 5?

2. Are you using the scanner HP Scanjet 4400 or 4470 on a parallel port?

3. What is your XP service pack?

4. Do you use a Lexar media reader?

5. Has the error occured during XP sp2 installation?

Once you have answered my questions, I shall be able to guide you further.

Regards

Thank you very much for replying.

I'm using Avira antivirus (which is now outdated but I haven't updated yet).
My startup entities are as follows:

avgnt "C:\Program Files\Avira\Antivir desktop\avgnt.exe" /min HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current version\Run

Smtray C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\Smtray.exe HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current version\Run

ctfmon C:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current version\Run

1. I have never used Easy CD Creator.
2. I'm not using the scanner HP Scanjet 4400 or 4470 either.
3. I have XP SP3.
4. I don't use Lexar.
5. I don't remember. I had XP SP2 before but I don't remember whether I encountered such problem. Now I have XP SP3.

Thank you very much.

Greetings

The system error code 0xoooooo50 indicates two of the following problems:

1. A hardware is searching in the Ram some inexisting data.

2. A memory stick is defective or an antivirus is incompatible with your Windows version.

My guess is that Alok 999's diagnotic and mine meet.

You must hence and therefore update your AV.

Regards

P.S. Nice shoot Alok!
