As Dremorain has suggested, it is actually true that Google changes its basic logo according to some specific events all throughout the year. You can check out the various Google logos that have been made depending on the particular event here. On the whole, it is something normal.
Yet, you have not provided precise information over the issue. The background wallpaper also can be modified to your taste. For doing it, you should log in your Google account and get to the Homepage. You will find at the bottom left corner the feature "Change Background Image". Please click on it and have the wallpaper changed or removed hence.
