Kaspersky is to scan for viruses if you wish to format your pendrive, I suggest you use this free (yes totally free) formating tool:

hello Ambucias ,

You are right and the tool is totally free its being used by me several times but the user seems to be having issues with formatting also may be there is write protection or drive letter changed as no more info was provided .Lets wait for his/her feedback.
