Sims 3 launcher won't download?

Hello, I played my sims 3 for a really long time and it startted getting boring so I uninstalled it and trtied reinstalling it 2 monthbs later. it installed but it will not open launcher plus i have windows 7 and the guy at walmart told us to use patches to make it compatible i have tried but nothing has worked!!
