Dvd/Cd Drive Not Reading Disk

Hello,

I have a HP Pavillion DV4000 laptop which i've had for about 2yrs now & don't really use it that much. Anyway. i recently have tried to use the dvd/cd player but its not reading the disk. Also when i go into "my computer" & open dvd/cd drive its not even registering that there is a disk inserted. Any suggestions? Much appreciated...
