Uploading photos from Samsung Messenger to PC Closed

Hello, 


I have a usb cable hooked up to my phone and my computer, and the computer does not recognize the phone. I tried it with my Mac and my Windows laptop...neither one of them recognize the phone. Do I have to have an SD Card to transfer the pictures via USB? I didn't think I would?

When connected the phone to pc via usb cable do you get notification on mobile screen ?like mass storage ,pc studio ...?
