Usb flash drive

Hello,

I password protected my flashdrive (pen drive) As I don't use it that often I have forgotten the password! I have made all the attempts that I can and it is now telling me to format the pen drive. I don't want to do this as I will lose over a years worth of college work. Can anyone help me open the pen drive without loosing my work. Please.
