Hello, I recently got my drive fixed and now everything is working normally but I noticed that the volume icon wasn't on the task bar so I went to sounds/audio devices in control panel and it said that the volume control program had not been installed and to install this you must go to add/remove programs and I did and I can't figure out what to do from there, can someone please help me? Thanks

Try this

Click on Start button

Click on RUN and type

dllcache and click ok

Copy this file sndvol32 and paste it in SYSTEM32 folder

Now go to control panels-sounds option

Check mark Place volume icon in task bar

That should solve the issue

I can't enter this file, it says there are no active mixer devices and that I should install it in 'Add Hardware', do you have any suggestions?

When I moved the files into SYSTEM 32 folder they reappeared and when I went to sound it was dimmed out, you can't click any of the buttons:/

@sabby

Do not launch the file just copy it to SYSTEM32 folder

There are two files you need to have SYSTEM32 folder

sndrec32 and sndvol32

Just copy them from dllcache to SYSTEM32 folder

Now go to control panel-sound

Check mark Place volume icon in task bar

Now click on Apply

You should get back your sound icon in the taskbar

I hope your OS is windows xp
