Hello,
I have a Samsing Model SW-248 CD-rewritable that came from a Dell PC, can I install this unit in a HP Pavilion Model p6204y PC? The PC has a CD/DVD player already installed. I am not very computer literate so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It should not be a problem if you have an extra port and power cable. The Samsung drive needs a IDE port and the motherboard probably only supports 2 IDE devices on a single cable.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply and info. I have a spare port, not sure about the cables, will have to remove the cover and see if there is another. Should the Samsung be labeled a "slave"?

One drive needs to be "master" and the other "slave". It doesn't matter which is which.
