Hello,

Any advice please as bit of novice. Just want to take some pix to put items on Ebay.
I have HP Photosmart 318 camera. Bought a SD 4gb card together with card reader and USB cable.

Nothing works. When I put the card in the camera it says to format it but when I press the button for yes - it keeps coming back with the same message CF card needs formatting.

I tried to format it on computer but the computer won't even recognise or open it so am totally stuck and going bananas.

Many thanks for any basic advice - all I want is a few pics - nothing else !

Your camera takes a CF type memory card. You state that you bought a SD card. That's the problem you have the wrong card. You will need to use the correct type memory card.
