Hello,

My laltitude D630 is not powering on.

I have removed all accessories for the the tests, ie., memory hard drive, optical drive, battery..

My power supply adapter shows power indication before I connect it to the D630. The moment laptop is connected the power adapter goes to lights out. and I can't see the power LED on the laptop light up.

I have tried with different DELL power supplies both 65W and 90W.

It feels as though the power supply goes into a short circuit shudown mode. To get the power adapter working, I have to disconnect the laptop and recycle power on the AC mains.

Is this a common problem and what could be the possible issue ?

Thanks

Probably a failed motherboard. The only reasonable repair option is to buy a used D630 for parts and swap your hard drive.

Good Luck
