Calculation of positions in excelSolved/Closed

Hello, sir/madam...i am doing some work with the students result in excel...but I faced a problem..it is simple but I havn't got dat in my mind...i have students total marks.now I wanna get the position of the students i.e first , second, third etc. I will be glad and praiseworthy if u can help me out 
...

to select a data toolbar you can see a sort button,, click it ,, that ask u for assending order or decending order... you select yourself what you want... the decending order will display the oder on decending...

Hi,  

Well, I supposed that your data were something like that :  
   
     A            B           C  
1 Students    Marks      Position  
2 Philippe       15           2  
3 Sam            19           1  
4 Jeny           12           3  
5 John           9            4  
6 Jane           8            5  



To have the student result position in the column C, try with this formula :  
C2=RANK(B2,$B$2:$B$6) and drop down the formula on C column.
